Care Guide

Care guide

Keep them clean.
Keep them forever.

NauNau bags are built to last — but a little care goes a long way. Here's everything you need to know to keep yours in perfect shape.

The basics

Two rules before
anything else.

✓ Do

Always wash after use

Rinse out all food particles after every use. The sooner the better — especially after storing anything oily, saucy, or strongly scented.

✗ Don't

Never turn inside out

It's tempting — but flipping your bag inside out can stress the seal and weaken the edges over time. Keep it the right way round, always.

✓ Do

Store with the seal open

When not in use, leave the seal slightly open to let air circulate and prevent any moisture buildup inside the bag.

✗ Don't

Don't use as a cutting surface

Sharp objects will damage the silicone. Use a proper cutting board and slide food into your NauNau bag after chopping.

How to wash

Three ways to clean.
All of them easy.

01

Dishwasher.
Any rack, any cycle.

NauNau bags are fully dishwasher safe — top or bottom rack, any cycle. Just open the seal before loading so water can get inside and clean thoroughly.

This is the easiest option and gets the job done perfectly. No need to turn the bag inside out — just pop it in and let the machine do the work.

Tip: Leave the seal slightly open when loading so the inside gets a proper clean.

02

Hand wash.
Warm water, mild soap.

Fill your sink with warm soapy water and use a bottle brush or soft sponge to clean inside the bag. Pay extra attention to the corners and the seal area.

A bottle brush works brilliantly for getting into the corners without having to force the bag open wider than it wants to go.

Tip: Don't force the bag open further than it goes naturally — hold each side and gently roll the seal open.

Boiling water / sterilise photo

03

Boiling water.
For a deep clean.

Platinum silicone is safe to submerge in boiling water — making it one of the easiest things in your kitchen to properly sterilise. Submerge for a few minutes, remove carefully and let cool.

This is especially useful after storing raw meat, fish, or anything that needs extra hygiene reassurance.

Tip: This also works for the seal area — boiling water helps loosen any stubborn residue caught in the groove.
Problem solving

How to remove smells

  • 1Soak in a 50/50 mix of warm water and white vinegar for a few hours
  • 2Place on a baking tray and bake at 180°C for 8 minutes — let cool before handling
  • 3For stubborn smells like garlic or onion, combine both methods

Stains

How to remove stains

  • 1Wash the bag thoroughly first
  • 2Place in direct sunlight for a few hours — the UV naturally bleaches out stains
  • 3Works brilliantly on tomato sauce, carrot, and beetroot stains
💧

Drying your bag

  • After washing, stand the bag upright over a bottle or cup to air dry inside
  • A drying rack works perfectly — especially one designed for reusable bags
  • Air drying may leave water spots — simply wipe with a clean cloth before putting away
  • Make sure it's fully dry before sealing and storing

Storing your bag

  • Always store fully dry — moisture trapped inside can cause issues over time
  • Leave the seal slightly open when storing to allow airflow
  • Stack flat in a drawer or stand upright in a container
  • Flat-frozen bags can be stored standing up like files in your freezer
